DACStorE Research School NETs@Helmholtz Retreat 2025

The week between 26.10 and 31.10. marked a special occasion: the DACStorE Research School NETs@Helmholtz kicked off this year’s retreat!
Once a year, our PhD students and several DACStorE principal investigators come together for a week of learning and collaboration.
2025’s retreat took us high up to the Zugspitze, to the Environmental Research Station Schneeferner Haus, and later to Munich.
There, participants engaged in hands-on training on technology transfer and career development, while also explored cutting-edge environmental research. The program included a guided tour of the Schneeferner Haus climate station, where we gained unique insights into ongoing research, as well as an excursion to the nearby Schneeferner glacier, bringing the science of climate and environment vividly to life.
In Munich, the exchange continued with our traditional Pi-Day, where junior and senior investigators came together to share perspectives on research and collaboration.
We were also excited to visit the DAC start-up Phlair, strengthening ties, learning about their DAC methodology, and experiencing first-hand what life in a start-up looks like.
The week ended on a lighter note with a Halloween-themed city tour, adding a fun and spooky twist to the retreat.
A big thank you to all participants for making this retreat such a memorable and inspiring experience. Here’s to a week full of networking and new ideas!
